Here We Go Again!

Here we go again!  A white cop shot a fleeing black drunk, so, LET’S BURN ATLANTA!  Sherman already did that once, but let’s do it again.  Maybe we can re-film parts of “Gone with the Wind” with scenes that will satisfy the “content Nazis”.  Turn out the pickup trucks, so that we can haul away the big flat screen TV’s and other symbols of our “peaceful protests” against the nasty RACIST! police. And - DEFUND THE POLICE, so that they don’t interfere with our “peaceful” destruction of Atlanta.

I wax satirical, and with gallows humor, because of my deep sadness and sorrow for my country, that great American republic that is being destroyed by anti-American anarchists, modern Bolsheviks and other leftists, while the elected democrat mayors and governors of our cities and states tacitly approve by surrendering to the mob.

What started as legal first amendment demonstrations after George Floyd’s terrible death in Minneapolis, to raise awareness of police abuse, has now become a full fledged cultural revolution, attacking our history, our freedom of speech and the press, our entertainment, our sports and in effect, all aspects of what represents a common, shared American heritage.  Nothing is spared, not even children’s cartoons, or iconic old movies, like “Gone with the Wind”.  Where are we heading?  It surely feels like we’re heading toward the totalitarianism of Hitler’s Nazi Germany, Stalin’s Soviet Union, or Mao’s China, where the same freedoms were abrogated.

Unfortunately, this is the price we pay for electing altruistic sounding, “do-nothing” democrats to our local governments.  Rather than stopping what amounts to an insurrection and secession of a part of Seattle from the city, state and federal government, Jennie Durkan, the democrat mayor of Seattle’s response to the anarchy in her streets was “well, maybe we’ll have a summer of love”.  Jay Inslee, the democrat governor of Washington State claimed to have no knowledge of the secession.  With local officials like these, President Trump could invoke the National Defense Authorization Act of 2007, but he is obviously proceeding cautiously in view of the divisive and polarized nature of the country.

The ultimate answer to this cultural destruction of our American way of life lies in our elections.  If we continue to be led down the garden path by the siren song of the “liberal”, “progressive”, “socialist”, democrats, the dismantling and destruction of our cities will continue.  I lived in the New York area, and I’m old enough to remember the dire straits that the city had gotten into in the mid 1990’s.  Rudy Giuliani, a republican, was elected mayor in 1994.  Rudy cleaned up the city, imposed law and order, fiscal responsibility, brought in businesses, and made the city livable again.  Even now, republican run cities like San Diego, Jacksonville and Fort Worth fare a lot better than many of the “sanctuary city” cesspools run by democrats.
