Left Wing Bias in Our Online Searches
Typically, by default, most of us use Google Chrome as our
web page, the Google search engine for our online searches, and Wikipedia for
our topic lookup. This ensures that we
consistently are guided to the left side on issues, because the algorithms embedded
in all of the above are designed to do exactly that – guide us consistently to a
left view of things.
Just for grins, I looked up “Black Lives Matter” using both “Info
Galactic” and “Wikipedia”. The
differences are obvious, and illustrate my point. This happens every time we use the default
tools listed above.
This is from Info Galactic,
a non-biased topic lookup option.
“Black Lives Matter (BLM) is a decentralized left-wing
American activist movement that campaigns against violence toward black people
and seeks to increase blacks' social and political power. It was founded in
2013 by three black lesbians: the daughter of illegal immigrants and
legalization proponent Opal Tometi, Patrisse Cullors, and Alicia Garza. Under
the BLM banner, protests and propaganda are organized against police killings
of black people, and against racial profiling, police brutality, and racial
inequality in the justice system.
Black Lives Matter traces its roots back to the Civil Rights
Movement, the Black Power movement, and the international struggle against
Apartheid, but began in its present form with the 2013 hashtag
#BlackLivesMatter after the acquittal of George Zimmerman in his self-defense
case that involved the death of his attacker, African-American Trayvon Martin.
The movement is a decentralized network with no formal
hierarchy, but influential opinion leaders BLM considers itself an inclusive movement
within the black community, welcoming "Black queer and trans folks,
disabled folks, black-undocumented folks, folks with records, women and all
Black lives along the gender spectrum."
Black Lives Matter has allegedly been funded by George
Soros, and has been accused of being a domestic terror organization, but has
generally been sympathetically depicted by the mass media and the government
under the Obama administration.”
NOTE: - InfoGalactic is
intended to have less alleged politically progressive, left-wing, or
"politically correct" bias than Wikipedia, and to allow articles or
statements that would not be allowed on Wikipedia because of problems with
Wikipedia's policies on reliable sources, or due to alleged biases held by
Wikipedia editors. Standards on notability are more relaxed, within limits.
Articles based on original research may also be allowed if all conflicts and
controversies are disclosed.
This is from a
conventional Wikipedia search. The bias
is obvious.
Black Lives Matter (BLM) is an international human rights
movement, originating from within the African-American community, which
campaigns against violence and systemic racism towards black people. BLM
regularly holds protests speaking out against police brutality and police
killings of black people, and broader issues such as racial profiling, and
racial inequality in the United States criminal justice system.
In 2013, the movement began with the use of the hashtag
#BlackLivesMatter on social media after the acquittal of George Zimmerman in
the shooting death of African-American teen Trayvon Martin in February 2012.
Black Lives Matter activists became involved in the 2016
United States presidential election. The originators of the hashtag and call to
action, Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi, expanded their project
into a national network of over 30 local chapters between 2014 and 2016. The overall Black Lives Matter movement,
however, is a decentralized network and has no formal hierarchy.”
