RACISM! – The Popular Delusion

RACISM! – The Popular Delusion

The referenced article is by the Associated Press, which is normally pretty balanced about the news is sad to read.  AP have obviously drunk the hysterical, emotional Antifa and BLM koolaid about RACISM!, rather than following the facts.  I repeat the numbers and facts below if anyone is interested in the truth, rather another left-wing narrative.

Notwithstanding what it has become popular to espouse, like this AP article, we are not a racist country, and our police are not rife with anti-black RACISM.  Its amazing how fast the left-wing, BLM narrative has deluded the popular psyche, not only in The U.S., but across much of the world, to the point that AP publishes articles like this.

THE FACTS - Numbers and statistics showing that we are not RACIST! in modern America, fall on completely deaf ears once the false mob narrative is planted and accepted. But these following, are the facts, not emotional rhetoric. This is from Heather MacDonald’s recent op-ed citing shootings by whites and blacks, giving numbers, not a fiery narrative.

I REPEAT -

“In 2019 police officers fatally shot 1,004 people, most of whom were armed or otherwise dangerous. African-Americans were about a quarter of those killed by cops last year (235), a ratio that has remained stable since 2015. That share of black victims is less than what the black crime rate would predict, since police shootings are a function of how often officers encounter armed and violent suspects. In 2018, the latest year for which such data have been published, African-Americans made up 53% of known homicide offenders in the U.S. and commit about 60% of robberies, though they are 13% of the population.

The police fatally shot nine unarmed blacks and 19 unarmed whites in 2019, according to a Washington Post database. In 2018 there were 7,407 black homicide victims. Assuming a comparable number of victims last year, those nine unarmed black victims of police shootings represent 0.1% of all African-Americans killed in 2019. By contrast, a police officer is 18½ times more likely to be killed by a black male than an unarmed black male is to be killed by a police officer. Again, A POLICE OFFICER IS 18 ½ TIMES MORE LIKELY TO BE KILLED BY A BLACK MALE THAN AN UNARMED BLACK MALE IS TO BE KILLED BY A POLICE OFFICER.

On a recent weekend, 80 Chicagoans were shot in drive-by shootings, 21 fatally, the victims were overwhelmingly black. Police shootings are not the reason that blacks die of homicide at eight times the rate of whites and Hispanics combined; criminal violence is.”

As is common in leftist rhetoric, anecdotal events, such as George Floyd’s appalling death, and several incidents enumerated in this AP article, are treated as endemic, and given the weight of wide spread social ills.  The actual numbers don’t lie, and belie these emotional, anecdotal commentaries, but it seems that a good part our country do not even look at the numbers or the truth, and has subscribed to the false narrative that all Caucasians, and all police are bigots, bent on oppressing our black American citizens.

Apparently, it has also been conveniently forgotten that upwards of 400,000  white Americans died during the Civil War to free the slaves, because “Black Lives Mattered” to them in the 1860’s, and laws have been passed ever since, to ensure equal rights under the law for all Americans, regardless of skin color or ethnicity.

If a segment of our black population feel that they have been marginalized socially or economically, or in any other way, they should look at the root causes, and do something about it in the next election cycle.  Vote out the democrat overlords that have run most of the major cities for much of the past 50 years, and kept black Americans down, with divisive and oppressive “identity politics”.  Stop listening to anti-American groups like Antifa and BLM, and if you don’t like the white side, pay attention to black conservatives, like Ben Carson, Shelby Steele, Tim Scott, Candace Owens, and many others.
